Women's Health Management

Hormone & Fertility Testing

The female hormone cycle is complex and changes naturally through life stages such as puberty, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and menopause, making hormone testing especially important in women’s health management. TriCore offers a comprehensive test menu to evaluate the female hormone cycle and androgen imbalance, as well as thyroid hormone testing.

HPV - Cervical Cancer Screening & Detection

TriCore offers a variety of cervical cancer screening tests, including two FDA-approved liquid-based Pap tests: ThinPrep & Surepath. A cytotechnologist screens every slide, and a pathologist reviews each abnormal Pap. Additionally, molecular HPV screening augments our manual Pap screening as a primary test or reflex option. Finally, TriCore offers surgical pathology services for colposcopies and biopsies.

Vaginitis & Sexually Transmitted Infections

Vaginitis and untreated sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including gonorrhea, chlamydia, and Trichomonas, can lead to serious conditions, including pelvic inflammatory disease, ectopic pregnancy, or infertility. Because vaginitis and untreated STIs may be linked to chronic reproductive problems, these tests are also valuable in workups for patients with reproductive issues. TriCore offers results for vaginitis and three of the most common STIs, all from a single sample collection.

Maternal & Prenatal Screening

Genetic Carrier Screening

Genetic carrier screening is essential for determining the risk of having a child with certain genetic diseases. The American College of Medical Genetics and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommend screening for mutations associated with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) and cystic fibrosis in all pregnant individuals. TriCore also offers testing for fragile X premutation and full mutation carrier status, appropriate for those with a family history of fragile X-related disorders or a family history of intellectual disability suggestive of fragile X syndrome.

Biochemical Maternal Serum Screening

Biochemical maternal screening measures biomarkers to assess a pregnant woman’s risk of having a fetus with a fetal aneuploidy or a neural tube defect. TriCore offers first and second trimester screening tests, as well as integrated and sequential test options.

Non-Invasive Prenatal Screening

Non-invasive prenatal screening, also referred to as cell-free DNA (cfDNA) testing, analyzes fetal genomic cell-free circulating in the maternal bloodstream. It is more sensitive and specific than biochemical screening for detecting traditionally screened aneuploidies: trisomies 21, 18, and 13, and the sex chromosomes X and Y. With TriCore’s Non-Invasive Prenatal Screening test, patients may opt in to a web portal for complimentary genetic screening education and support through our partnership with Metis Genetics.
