Processing & Shipping

Specimen Processing:
Allow red top to clot for 20-30 minutes. Centrifuge immediately and separate serum into a transport tube.

Shipping Instructions:
Ship refrigerated

Special Instructions:
Label specimens as acute or convalescent and submit simultaneously for testing. Convalescent specimens must be received within 30 days from receipt of the acute specimen.

Rejection Criteria:
Severly lipemic, contaminated and hemolyzed specimens are unacceptable.
