Processing & Shipping

Specimen Processing:
Allow red top to clot for 20-30 minutes. Centrifuge immediately and separate serum into transport tube.

Ship refrigerated

Special Instructions:
Label specimens acute and convalescent and submit simultaneously for testing. Convalescent specimens must be received within 30 days from the receipt of the acute specimens.

Rejection Criteria:
Plasma, lipemic, hemolyzed, icteric, turbid, heat-inactivated and contaminated specimens are unacceptable.
