Processing & Shipping

Specimen Processing:
Allow red top to clot for 20-30 minutes. Centrifuge SST or EDTA tube at 800-1200 x g for 20 minutes at room temperature. Separate serum or plasma into transport tube.

Special Instructions:
HCV Genotyping is performed only when an HCV quantitative assay has been performed within the past 30 days and HCV RNA is detected.

Rejection Criteria:
Heparinized and specimens with no viral load detected are unacceptable.
