Volume:- Preferred: 1.5mL platelet poor plasma
- Minimum: 1.0mL platelet poor plasma

- Frozen: 2 weeks
Specimen Processing:
Draw 1 (lavender top) "waste" tube, discard. The second tube must be filled completely and processed within 1 hour of collection. Spin tube at 2000 g for 10 minutes. Aliquot plasma and check cells for clot. See Special Instructions Special Instructions:
Centrifuge aliquot of plasma and aliquot 3/4 top of plasma into two tubes and freeze immediately. Send both aliquots for testing. See: Platelet Poor Plasma Preparation Rejection Criteria:
Serum, clotted, refrigerated and ambient specimens are unacceptable. Specimen must be free of red cells, platelets and hemolysis. |
