Processing & Shipping

Specimen Processing:
CRITICAL: Refrigerate urine during and after collection. Collect random or 24-hour urine in a plastic container and mix well. Aliquot urine into 2 Trace Element-Free transport tubes and refrigerate.

Special Instructions:
If 24-hour urine collected, measure and record total volume and collection intervals on transport tubes and requisition. Trace Element-Free transport tubes are available through TriCore Client Supplies (505) 938-8957.

Rejection Criteria:
Urine collected within 48-hours after administration of a gadolinium (Gd) containing contrast media (may occur with MRI studies) and urine preserved in acid is unacceptable.
