TriCore Reference Laboratories Obtains CAP 15189SM Accreditation to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Quality Management Standard
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., August, 19, 2011 – TriCore Reference Laboratories’ three principal laboratories have received accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP) 15189SM Accreditation Program. They include the organization’s main laboratory in Albuquerque as well two hospital-based laboratories it manages for the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center and Presbyterian Healthcare Services.
The accreditation is awarded by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) to laboratories that achieve the highest levels of operational systems improvement, risk mitigation, and quality management. Laboratories that receive this accreditation are certified as providing the safest conditions for their patients.
TriCore is one of only 18 labs in the United States, and the first-ever multi-site laboratory, to meet the rigorous requirements of CAP 15189SM.
“TriCore has a great team of people focused on providing quality laboratory services. The implementation of a rigorous quality management system ensures and measures consistency and quality throughout the system,” said Chief Executive Officer Jessie Salk.
“The College of American Pathologists believes laboratories that work towards its implementation have committed resources and ideals to a quality system focused on the needs of the patient,” said William Castellani, MD, FCAP, chair of the CAP 15189 Committee. “The College is proud to acknowledge those laboratories that have taken this system to heart and demonstrated that this dedication to quality is embraced throughout the facility.”
Composed exclusively of board-certified pathologists, the College of American Pathologists (CAP) is a medical society serving more than 17,000 physician members and the global laboratory community. The College advocates accountable, high-quality, and cost-effective patient care.
