TriCore is an independent, not-for-profit, full-service reference laboratory serving hospitals, physicians, medical groups and nursing homes throughout the Southwest.
TriCore was founded in 1998 in Albuquerque, N.M., to consolidate regional laboratory services at Presbyterian Healthcare Services, the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center and The Reference Laboratory.
TriCore offers an extensive menu with more than 1,500 different tests ranging from routine screens for cholesterol and blood sugar to highly specialized - or esoteric - services, such as DNA testing. TriCore conducts approximately 98 percent of its tests in-house in its own laboratories.
TriCore employs more than 1,100 people throughout its labs and patient care centers across New Mexico and in El Paso, Texas.
TriCore's team of physicians includes more than 35 affiliated pathologists and scientists.
Jessie Salk joined TriCore as CEO in 2008 to oversee the laboratory's technical and administrative functions as the company worked to grow int market share and deepen its commitment to esoteric testing.
In January 2008, TriCore launched TriCore Pathology Express to give clinicians rapid online access to pathology test results. Registered users could securely view and manage results for patients’ surgical biopsies, molecular diagnostics, pap smears and several other test services.
TriCore moved to a 95,000-sq. ft. state-of-the-art laboratory facility in 2004 to centralize services, expand its test menu and consolidate its clinical team of pathologists and scientists.
In 2004, TriCore was named a Roche Diagnostics Molecular Center of Excellence in recognition of its molecular testing program and esoteric genomic testing.
TriCore pathologists are internationally recognized for hematopathology.
TriCore pathologists and clinical team provide clinical consultations for hospitals and physicians.
TriCore performs pre-employment and monitoring drug screens for employers and offers consultation services related to forensic medicine and toxicology.

Patient Care Centers

TriCore operates more than 25 outpatient care centers in the Southwest, including in greater Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Espanola, Las Vegas, Carlsbad, Clovis, Las Cruces, Silver City, Socorro, Ruidoso, Tucumcari and El Paso, TX.
TriCore maintains Branch Laboratories at several satellite centers, which conduct standard lab tests on the premises for the quickest possible results.

TriCore provides training for pathology residents and fellows in conjunction with the University of New Mexico School of Medicine.
