Headquartered in Albuquerque, TriCore Reference Laboratories is an independent reference laboratory that provides full service, state-of-the-art laboratory tests to health care professionals and their patients throughout New Mexico, the Southwest and across the nation.

 

TriCore performs a wide range of laboratory services and tests – from the routine to the highly esoteric  – under the direction of more than 35 pathologists and scientific directors. We provide 24/7 expert consultation to physicians on difficult cases, helping them analyze testing options and interpret results.

 

The company has also established a strong presence in the molecular infectious diseases testing arena and its Hematopatholgy Molecular Oncology Laboratory is recognized as one of the top laboratories in the world, primarily for complex cases. TriCore's Esoteric Division offers a cost-effective testing approach as well as state-of-the-art facilities and instrumentation.

 

TriCore operates more than 50 satellite centers throughout New Mexico and the Southwest. These include 24 outpatient centers where company staff draw blood and perform other standard procedures. It also maintains branch laboratories at some of these centers to conduct standard lab tests on-site. Satellite centers include the laboratories operated on the premises of the University of New Mexico Hospital and Presbyterian hospitals.

 

TriCore participates in scientific research through collaboration with the University of New Mexico and numerous national and international biotech firms. The company also provides training for pathology residents and fellows in conjunction with the University of New Mexico School of Medicine and on-site clinical training for medical technologist, medical technician and phlebotomy students.

 

Founded in 1998, TriCore has roots extending back 30 years. It was formed by merging the hospital laboratories of Presbyterian Healthcare Services and the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center with the Reference Laboratory. The company has more than 1,100 employees.
